Public Hearing Notice

In accordance with federal requirements, the Nash County Public School System is currently reviewing the following 2024-25 federal grant application:

Title VI-A Indian Education Formula Grant

The grant application will be available for review at Red Oak Middle School, 3170 Red Oak Battleboro Road, Battleboro, NC (in the Media Center) as follows:

Wednesday, April 24, 2024 from 6:00 p.m. – 7:00 p.m.

All comments received during the public hearing will be considered by the Indian Education Parent Committee for the Title VI-A Indian Education grant.

The Village Leadership Summmit

The Village Males to Men Mentoring Program Leadership Summit took place on Thursday, April 11th. This gave students in the Village Program the opportunity to attend sessions about adversity, social media awareness, drug abuse prevention, and more. Middle School STEM Design Challenge

The Middle School STEM Challenge was held on Friday, April 12th. Twenty-six teams from all over Nash, Edgecombe, and Wilson counties participated. Students had several challenges including a blind STEM challenge, building with K'Nex, coding the LEGO Spike robot, and a book challenge.  This event was sponsored by STEP, in collaboration with many local businesses and local rotary clubs.  Ultimately, Edwards Middle School (Team 1) took home the gold, followed by NEC Prep (Team 1), and South Edgecombe (Team 1). Great job everyone! 👏🌟
