Nash Central High School recently hosted its Parent Orientation for prospective freshmen joining The Village: Males to Men Mentoring Program! We're excited to see these young men participate in this incredible growth and mentorship journey.
Congratulations to Bailey Elementary’s Media Coordinator, Clarissa Verdera, for winning the First Time Attendee Scholarship to the NCSLMA Conference! Clarissa submitted a successful application and was awarded this scholarship, which is given to only one first-time attendee each year. We’re so proud of her achievement and excited for the growth and opportunities this brings in her role as one of our global colleagues. Well done, Clarissa!
At our Board of Education meeting, our superintendent, Dr. Steve Ellis, was recognized as a true #NCPSHero! Dr. Ellis was honored for his unwavering commitment to recognizing and uplifting our staff. His leadership in supporting academic excellence has been instrumental in fostering a culture of achievement across our district. His dedication inspires us all to keep working toward the success of our students and community.

A group of school librarians recently attended the NCSLMA (NC School Library Media Association) conference in Greensboro, NC, where they gained fresh insights into innovative teaching strategies and the latest resources for enhancing student literacy. School libraries play a crucial role in education by providing access to diverse learning materials, fostering a love for reading, and supporting critical thinking skills. Equipped with new approaches and resources, these librarians are now better prepared to enrich student's learning experiences, ultimately strengthening literacy and engagement across our schools and community.

Students and staff across the district showed their support for Unity Day by wearing orange on October 16th! Together, we’re sending a powerful message of commUNITY, promoting kindness, acceptance, and inclusion to prevent bullying.
The Tar River Academy Mental Health Clinician, Mrs. Brewington, drew a stunning Phoenix, and students contributed by cutting out feathers and writing positive messages on them. Tar River Academy showed that there's No Place For Hate!

Run Club is back at Winstead Avenue Elementary! Every Monday and Wednesday, 71 students are training hard for their first race of the year, the MillChill, on December 8 at Rocky Mount Mills. We're so proud of their hard work and dedication!

We would also like to shout out all of our AMAZING staff and students who contributed to the United Way! Together we can really make a difference!
Each tip is immediately sent to designated school leaders and, when necessary, to local 911 dispatchers, who then respond to protect student safety.
This system gives our students and staff an additional research-based tool to prevent acts of violence and provide assistance to students in crisis. Say Something is intended to be used by students in grades 4-12 and by all staff, and is currently utilized by our middle and high schools.
More than 5,000 schools nationwide are using this program, which is offered by Sandy Hook Promise, a national nonprofit organization.
The Village: Males to Men Mentoring Program kicked off its first college tour with a visit to NC A&T University! Our scholars from all four traditional high schools and Tar River Academy had the opportunity to explore campus, learn about academic programs, and get a glimpse of college life. It was an inspiring day for these young men as they continue to work toward their bright futures!
